It's Sunday. I'm feeling good... I reached for the Sunday's newspapers hoping for some good news to warm me up.
Since last night, there was one news that the media treats something like its very important and it was annoying me...
Today, in the newspapers headlines, entertainment, editorial and other pages, all are talking about one thing, "Sha Rukh Khan Detained in US Airport". Now, its really getting into my veins...
What's the fuss all about... WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL BOUT THIS?
The big deal was that he felt ashamed and insulted as he is a global icon (as he claimed to be) and that nobody in the airport seemed to recognize him and treat him as one. Let this be an eye opener for you, Sha Rukh...You are NOT as popular as you think you are. I lived in a country where global icons and international actors are recognized and worshipped by common people and I haven't even known you until I come here in India. Yes, you are a great actor. In fact, one of the best in Bollywood... I've seen a lot of your great movies for the past two years of staying here in India and I liked them all... You're a great hit in India but that doesn't mean you're also a hit worldwide...
Yes, you are shooting various films in the US, but don't expect all US citizens to recognize you just because of that. You are merely shooting there, NOT an actor there.
Indian media, what's wrong with you guys? Why are you making this such a big fuss? You could have talked about more important issues in the headlines, you know. What can people do about this? Just hate the Westerners for doing so?
US Airport security were just doing their job...Specially with terrorism issues, you cannot blame US security to be more careful...
One actor said that if they are doing these to Indians, we should also do this on our Indian airports...
For what reason? To humiliate Americans?
They are doing this checking stuff for security reason, not for humiliating people and I'm sorry you feel humiliated Sha Rukh but you should understand their side as well. I was expecting you to understand the situation as it was needed... I don't think your reputation is affected unless you're guilty of something...
I hate the media for bringing up this issue again and again as if its world war... Remember that your Bollywood stars are also humans and they are not always exempted of some stuff. They may be worshipped in India but dont expect the whole world to embrace them like you do... Unless they are as popular as Michael Jackson...
This is Leigh...signing off...

huh? popular? haven't heard of him in any Western movies that I have seen. if even I saw him then i was not interested in knowing who he is. I just like Mohinder Suresh! this is a good article for all those BIG headed out there, not just the BIG stars of course, but everyone who feels too powerful.
he's not a Western superstar but we heard famous indians who are recognized worldwide like Aishwarya Rai but NOT him...Indians in USA of course know him,not americans or any other race...and you know what? lately he said he's going to frisk Angelina Jolie when she'll visit India... damn! how unprofessional... its like a kiddie revenge... US airport did it for security reasons and he's going to frisk american actors in Indian airport for revenge... WHO THE HELL HE THINK HE IS???
Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now keep it up!
